AUSTIN (KXAN) — Several city agencies are teaming up to hand out some winter weather supplies. Austin Energy, Austin Water, Austin Resource Recovery and the City of Austin Office of Homeland Security Management will host events across the city this week. What is a water key? The spokesperson added that proposal was dropped after RRHS administrators met with families and students Thursday night to collect their feedback."After campus administration met with families and students [Thursday] night and heard their feedback, the decision was made to keep the program as it is," the spokesperson said. At the urging of Mayor Marylee Abrams, the Maplewood City Council recently chose to fast-track the hiring of former city employee Michael Sable as the next city manager, without opening the application process up to the general public or internal candidates.It’s a decision that has irked two of the five council members, who issued an open letter of objection on Monday. FLORISSANT, Mo. -- A St. Louis County woman is accused of holding a Department of Family Services employee at knifepoint during a visit to her home last week. Bianca Price, 42, is facing kidnapping, assault, and weapons charges. She is being held on a $75,000, cash-only bond with instructions to have no contact with the victim or the child.Two DFS employees were at Price's home in the 6700 block of Champana Lane for an investigation on the morning of November 30th. Price allowed the investigators to come inside. They decided to leave after she was hostile to them. BOONE COUNTY, Mo. -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened Sunday south of Columbia. Debra Bates, 62, of Russellville, Missouri, is identified as the woman killed in the collision. Her family has been notified about the death. Suspect shot and killed after firing shots outside O’Fallon City Hall A crash report states that Bates was driving in a Jeep Compass with another woman in the passenger seat westbound on Route H at Innovation Boulevard at around 6:30 p.m. A woman driving a Ford Transit eastbound crossed the center lane and hit the driver's side of her Jeep.At around 7:05 p.m., paramedics declared Bates dead. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Just a couple of weeks ago, Cameron Kurzweil of Lawson was on his way home from work around 1 a.m. on Hwy 69, north of Excelsior Springs.That is when he saw 76-year-old Jon Goodwin and his motorcycle in the middle of a highway. Emergency crews are searching for a missing 21-year-old Denver-area man who went underwater while kayaking on Lake Granby early Sunday morning, Grand County officials said.Around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, along with medical and fire teams, Colorado Parks and Wildlife personnel and staff from the Beacon Landing Marina at Lake Granby, responded to a report of a man who needed help in the water near Deer Island, according to a news release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.The man spent the night on Deer Island with a friend, and the two were attempting to kayak back to shore Sunday when the wind caused his boat to capsize and he fell into the lake, the news release stated.The friend was unable to save him before he went underwater but the friend was able to get himself back to shore and call emergency services, according to the release.The area’s massive snowfall, blowing and drifting conditions and low visibility made it difficult for crews...Latest news
